The iPad book case is my favorite accessory for one reason and one reason only: it’s mine. And no one else’s case looks like it.
And I admit. I have several iPad book cases. To me, they’re a fashion accessory. For my co-workers, they’ve apparently become my mood advertiser. It turns out that they began noticing a pattern with my cases. When I’m in a great mood, I carry my iPad book case that has a giant white peony. When I’m feeling a little crabby, I take the one with the picture of a desert landscape. And when I’m feeling restless and ready for a getaway, I carry my iPad book case that has a tropical beach.
I certainly didn’t plan it that way. I used the pictures for my cases because I loved them. But it makes sense that my subconscious matches images to my mood. I love white peonies. Actually I love all white flowers. They make me smile. And that picture of the cactus on the desert, well…that’s just way too obvious. And the beach? I need the beach to dream. The beach is where I always would rather be and when I start thinking beach, I know I need to getaway.
I asked a friend recently to name an image that always brings a smile to his face. He said a 67 Mustang does; it reminds him of his youth. He was barely out of diapers when his dad bought one, but it’s the first car that he remembers thinking he’ll one day want to drive. He doesn’t think he has an image that makes him testy – but if he were to want to tell people to stay away from him on any given day, he said he’d do this with some dark image.
